Practice & Transportation For Spring 2021

In compliance with COVID-19 protocols, all rowers will be assigned to a pod and different groups will practice at different times, beginning April 12, 2021 at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.

Practice times are as follow:

  • Varsity Girls - 5:30AM to 7:30AM M-F

  • Novices (All) - 4:00PM to 6:00PM M-F

  • Varsity Boys - 6:00PM to 8:00PM M-F

  • All - 9:00AM to 12:00PM Sat

Please note that APS is only able to provide a bus for the afternoon (Novice) practice.  The afternoon bus will leave Wakefield at 3:30PM.

All other rowers will need to provide their own transportation and/or carpool.  If carpooling, rowers would need to be members of the same pod.

COVID-19 Precautions

  • Participants must wear masks at all times.

  • Foot Traffic Patterns are One Way on Ramps and Around Small Boathouse at ACBA.

  • There is a limited/reduced of number of total people permitted at ACBA at one time.

  • All equipment must be disinfected after each session.

Reminders About Practices

  • During Spring season, practice will be at the Anacostia Community Boathouse

  • Practices are mandatory once season starts.  You must email your coach if you are going to miss a practice. Unexcused absence means the rower will not row in the regatta that weekend.

  • Spring Break typically includes two a day practices in morning and afternoon and are required. Varsity rowers are aware of this. Novices, if your parents already made Spring Break travel plans for you, talk to the coach.

  • Dressing for practice - prepare for cold weather or rain or heat/sun, layers (Underarmor, long pants, no loose pants), must have sneakers every day, extra socks are important, cross training if we can’t get on the water

  • Fueling - read up on proper nutrition in fueling for races and workouts with this presentation: Nutrition For Rowers: Fueling Workouts & Races by Lauren Trocchio, RD, CSSD, CSOWM, LD (PDF)
